취미

Chwimi is the romanization of the Korean word for “hobby”.

Knitting

Utilizing the internet, I taught myself how to knit in medical school and have made a scarf, drink coasters, trivets, and a few blankets. I am currently working on two baby blankets for my friend and my sister. Knitting has been a lesson in patience and hard work, and I am always excited to share my work with my loved ones. I am currently working on two other baby blankets for my loved ones.

Cooking & Baking

I grew up baking treats for my friends and family and have continued to celebrate both large and small moments in life together with cookies, cakes, and lemon bars. I am currently challenging myself with breads and laminated pastries such as pie crust and croissants; I am also creating a cookbook for medical students focused on easy, quick, and nutritious meals during clinical rotations and stressful times. Baking and cooking are meditative practices for me while also challenging me to explore new techniques, cuisines, and combinations. For me, it’s been a simultaneous celebration of creativity and nostalgia.

Arranging Flowers

Bringing a little piece of nature into our personal spaces creates a sense of peace and a little moment of joy. I love arranging flowers for both myself and my friends for awards, celebrations, baby showers, and just because.
